The Illusion of Luck

The Book Is Out

As of today, The Illusion of Luck is a real book you can hold in your hands or read on a screen, wherever you buy books.

I wrote it at twenty-seven. That is young to write a book about how outcomes are made, and I am aware of it. I did not write it from the mountaintop. I wrote it from the climb, having seen only a glimpse of what the top might hold. That vantage point is the whole point of the book. I am close enough to the process to still remember what it feels like, and far enough along to start seeing the pattern.

The argument is simple. What the world calls luck is most often the intersection of preparedness, opportunity, and action. Not always. Good fortune is real, and I am not interested in pretending otherwise. But far more of it is built than granted, and the building is nearly invisible until the result finally shows up and someone at a distance calls it a lucky break.

I did not write a self-help book. There are no morning routines or affirmations in it. I wrote it for people who think analytically about the world and want a sharper lens for why some people keep landing on their feet while others, equally talented, do not.

If you have read these posts over the last few months, thank you for being here early. This is the thing they were quietly building toward the entire time.
